Four hundred years before the Curiosity ever left dock, something else came to WR 104 asking the same question. It never left.

About this book
The Descent concludes the duology begun in The Crossing. It is written to be read second — the archive it opens only lands if you already know what the crew went through to reach it.

Can I read The Descent on its own?
Not really. It is the second half of one continuous story and opens where The Crossing ends. Start with book one — chapter one is free to read here.
Does the duology have a proper ending?
Yes. Curiosity is complete in two books, with a finished ending and no cliffhanger waiting on a third volume. Both were published on the same day.
Is the science real?
The astronomy is. WR 104 is a genuine Wolf-Rayet binary roughly eight thousand light years away in Sagittarius, and is really discussed as a gamma-ray burst candidate. The observatory console on this site is built on the actual geometry.
